Press Release Body: Provo, UT, September 24, 2008 — By applying the debt elimination techniques of bestselling author David Bach and the coaching involvement of Prosper Inc., Asiah Ismail of Wiscasset, Maine, has a plan in place to completely eliminate her debt this year.
“I moved to the U.S from Malaysia 20 years ago. For years, I was content to let my husband, Lee, manage our finances. It was nice to not deal with bills and finances,” Ismail said. “But then my husband got sick with cancer. A few months before he died, he explained how I should manage my money.”
Since her husband’s passing a year ago, Ismail paid off the couple’s credit card debt with life insurance benefits and maximized contributions to her 401(k) account. She also made a number of personal goals, including one to be financially independent. Shortly later, she discovered Bach’s program. Prosper combines the insights of Bach’s program with a one-to-one coaching system that can help people like Ismail eliminate, rather than just “manage,” their debt.
“I didn’t hesitate to sign up because I needed to learn more about money management and I also saw that my bank account was starting to dwindle,” Ismail said. “I began to ask, ‘where is my money going?’ Prosper and my coach helped me to see and learn how to manage my finances.”
With this strong financial foundation, Ismail is confident she can be debt free. “This program has provided me with tremendous knowledge. I now know where my money goes,” Ismail said. “Through tracking my expenses, I was able to cut down about 15% of my spending on food. And I have no more credit card debt! Watching my spending has also helped me become aware of my needs vs. wants. I know I can pay off my mortgage of $111,000 and eliminate my debt this year.”
